Return to Sender

A shirt that I ordered from J. Crew arrived in the mail the other day and I ran upstairs to try it on. Hot on my heels was the 7 year old. Actually, he was hot on the heels of the package - he always holds out hope that every package will contain something for him. Anyway, I tried on the shirt and he immediately says, "It looks great, mom. It looks like one of those shirts you wear when you are pregnant."

I am returning the shirt.

***Update: After reading some comments I should probably clarify that this top did not have an empire waist, nor did it tie in the back! Here is the shirt. Now that I am reading the description, I think my problem is the "Back tuck for fullness" and the "flattering, U-shaped neckline" is apparently not flattering enough.

It seems that is the style now....I never care to wear a shirt that ties in the back, ever, ever again!

Um, yeah, I guess you are returning it... sheesh! :) My theory is if I am the age/situation that I could be pregnant, but I am not, then I wouldn't wear anything empire waisted, etc. But I am sure it looked great, nonetheless.

There's nothing like the honesty of a kid! My daughter is pretty brutal with me "Um, no Momma. That just doesn't work for you." But at least she notices when I have something new!

I have that shirt in black and with skinny jeans, it'll look great!

Men (no matter how little they are) have no clue how say things to a women regarding clothing! He did say it looked great though - that's something!!

You're too funny~ that's a bummer, it's a cute top.
I ordered their ruffly halter top which looked adorable on the model (of course) and I couldn't believe how different it looked on me! :0
Hate when that happens!

I liked that shirt too. Anything that's not fitted tends to make me look "with child".
